About the role

As our RN, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient, advancing modern nursing through compassionate care. Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
• Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome.
• Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
• Maintain thorough and confidential patient charts and records; document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
• Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making.
• Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
• Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability; provide teaching and evaluate its effectiveness.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
• RN License in the state of employment.
• Physical Requirements: Medium Work – exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• One (1) year of experience.

Where You'll Work

The Women’s Services department at Holy Cross Hospital‑Mountain Point has 10 LDRP rooms, one triage room, 6 OB/GYN rooms, and 4 level 2 nursery beds. The unit delivers an average of 85 babies each month (34 weeks and above). Patients appreciate walk‑in tubs, complimentary massages, celebration meals, beautiful spacious rooms, fantastic mountain views, and staying in the same room from admission to discharge. Nurses work as mother‑baby nurses, specializing in either labor or level 2 nursery, and must be flexible as assignments may change shift‑to‑shift or within a shift. Labor patients are staffed one‑on‑one (except cervical ripenings, one‑to‑two); mother‑baby assignments are three couplets to one nurse; the level 2 nursery is one nurse to two babies, with ratios adjusting for acuity.
