About the role

We are seeking a Labor and Delivery RN to provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX.

Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and signs of complications such as preeclampsia or infection.
• Provide labor support through positioning, breathing techniques, comfort measures (e.g., massage, cold packs, birthing balls, hydrotherapy).
• Administer IV therapy for hydration, medication, or anesthesia.
• Act as a patient advocate, respecting birth plans and cultural needs.
• Provide immediate newborn care: drying, warming, Apgar scoring, cord clamping, and administering prophylactic medications.
• Utilize the chain of command to ensure patient well-being during antepartum and postpartum periods.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certification (within 30 days of hire).
• ACLS certification (within 90 days of hire and maintained).
• NRP certification (within 90 days of hire and maintained).
• Basic Fetal Monitoring certification (within 60 days of hire and maintained).
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate (within 12 months of hire).
• Experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) is required.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate.
• STABLE certification.

Schedule

• Full-time, nights.
• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
