Registered Nurse - Head Nurse

About the role

The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a designated nursing unit. They utilize the nursing process to make informed decisions, ensuring safe, compassionate, and high-quality care that respects patient autonomy and dignity. Collaborating with leadership, they provide clinical guidance to nursing staff, maintain continuity of care, and support the hospital’s mission and policies.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and review diagnostic data related to patient conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement change.
• Provide guidance during life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention outcomes.
• Drive process improvements to enhance patient outcomes.
• Engage in clinical leadership activities including coaching, mentoring, staffing, and performance evaluations.
• Participate in initiatives to improve healthcare delivery.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure quality patient care.
• Support ongoing professional development and complete assigned duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting or specialty.
• RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
• Computer literacy is required; additional training preferred.
