Registered Nurse Educator - Full Time

Role Overview

The Nurse Educator assesses the educational needs of nursing staff, students, and others to plan and deliver orientation and ongoing education. They serve as a resource by mentoring staff, monitoring clinical competencies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. They act as role models to promote high-quality, safe patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs for staff, hospital, and community.
• Assesses staff practice through observations and chart reviews, creating targeted educational plans to enhance patient safety and care quality.
• Coordinates orientation for new employees and evaluates their competency progress.
• Provides classroom and individualized instruction, developing course objectives and in-service programs.
• Collaborates with leadership to develop employee improvement plans and tracks competency achievement.
• Investigates nursing practice concerns, stays current with research, and promotes evidence-based care.
• Participates in standards development, committee work, and interdepartmental collaboration.
• May provide direct patient care and supports staff in delivering high-quality nursing services.
• Maintains professional standards, supports policies, and ensures compassionate, patient-centered care.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty area.
• Current unrestricted RN licensure in NY State.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN, AHA BLS/ACLS Instructor certification, and specialty certification.

Additional Requirements

The role involves participation in committee work, maintaining current competencies, and possibly providing direct patient care to stay current with clinical practices.
