Responsibilities

  • Aid in conducting annual staff learning needs assessments and as needed.
  • Plan, revise, and conduct nursing orientation in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Mentor, serve as an educational resource, and lead hospital staff to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain current competencies and updated knowledge in the specific area of practice.
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate comprehensive training programs.
  • Evaluate training materials and provide specific training programs to help staff maintain or improve skills and competencies.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Affirm the quality of course development and delivery through assignment of qualified instructors, monitoring, and reviewing lesson plans, and class presentations.
  • Present information using various instructional techniques and formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.
  • Engage in ongoing infection control educational programs for employees, including TB, HIV/Hep/Universal Precautions, and may educate patients as necessary.
  • Deliver infection prevention and control education throughout the hospital based on research-based principles that enhance patient care.
  • Contribute to the review, development, and implementation of infection prevention and control-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide updates on infection control policy changes to physicians and staff.
  • Perform personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
  • Support the organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse License.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association.
  • At least 5 years of minimum work experience as a Registered Nurse Educator.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of current trends in psychiatric patient care, public health risk factors, control and reporting of disease, epidemiology trends, Patient Rights, and A.O.A. requirements regarding infection control and psychiatric patients.
  • Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs.
  • Experience with infection control and psychiatric patient care.
