Registered Nurse, CF - California Institution for Women (CIW)
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect these changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.
About the role
This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Nurse (RN), CF organizes and provides necessary nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements in a variety of correctional health care settings. The RN, CF, in collaboration with the health care team, ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The RN, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and for promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.
Responsibilities
- Organize and provide necessary nursing care in correctional health care settings.
- Collaborate with the health care team to ensure appropriate and timely health care delivery.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.
- Address ongoing health care needs of patients.
- Promote the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.
Requirements
- Possession of a current/valid license as a Registered Nurse in California. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination but must secure the required license before being considered eligible for appointment.
- Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting.
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment, followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
- If meeting Minimum Qualifications (MQ) with education, unofficial transcripts/diploma must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
- Applicants who completed their education outside of the US must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency.
Working Conditions
- Travel may be required.
Pay
$9,985.00 - $11,903.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
