About the Role
This position is for a Laboratory Assistant, CF, located at the California Institution for Women in Corona, San Bernardino County. Under the supervision of the Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, the Laboratory Assistant performs standardized non-technical laboratory procedures, including collecting and processing laboratory specimens, materials, and supplies. The role involves assisting in operating specialized laboratory equipment while complying with all applicable State and federal laws, regulations, and departmental policies. Additionally, the position requires maintaining order, supervising the conduct of the incarcerated, and ensuring the safety of persons and property.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) applies to this role. Full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 11, as well as related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, will experience a 3% base salary reduction and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.
Responsibilities
- Perform standardized non-technical laboratory procedures in collecting and processing laboratory specimens, materials, and supplies.
- Assist in operating specialized laboratory equipment.
- Comply with all applicable State and federal laws, regulations, and departmental policies pertaining to the laboratory.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of the incarcerated population.
- Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
