About the Role
Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), CF, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides a basic and technical level of general nursing care to patients in correctional healthcare settings. The LVN ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely healthcare to patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.
The LVN provides technical patient care under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the clinical direction of the RN. They support daily healthcare operations, communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team, address ongoing patient needs, and promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of healthcare resources.
Responsibilities
- Deliver basic and technical nursing care to patients in correctional healthcare settings.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
- Provide technical patient care under the delegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Support daily healthcare operations and communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Address ongoing patient needs and work with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of healthcare resources.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Pay
Monthly part-time salary range: $591.30 to $668.20.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces the base salary of full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 20 by 3% and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.
