Recruitment & HR Specialist
About the Role
The Wooten Company is seeking a Recruitment & HR Specialist to join our HR Team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying great talent, and creating an exceptional candidate and employee experience. While recruiting will be the primary focus, this position also offers the opportunity to gain experience across multiple Human Resources functions and grow into a well-rounded HR professional.

Who You'll Work With
You'll work closely with the Human Resources Manager as a trusted partner in recruiting, onboarding, and employee experience initiatives. You'll also collaborate with managers and leaders across the company to help identify and hire top talent while supporting HR programs that contribute to Wooten's continued growth.
Work Arrangement
This position offers a flexible work arrangement and may be structured as a part-time role (less than 29 hours per week) or a reduced-hour schedule (30-35 hours per week), depending on the candidate's experience and business needs. The position may be performed on-site at our Raleigh headquarters, in a hybrid capacity, or fully remote, with occasional travel to the multiple office locations for team meetings, onboarding activities, recruiting events, or other collaborative initiatives as needed. Our Raleigh headquarters is conveniently located in the vibrant Glenwood South District, surrounded by restaurants, shops, art galleries, and downtown amenities. The Wooten Company also has offices in Wilmington, Greenville, Winston-Salem, and Hickory, North Carolina, as well as Columbia, South Carolina.
Responsibilities
Since 1936, The Wooten Company has partnered with communities across the Carolinas to design and engineer infrastructure that improves everyday life. As we continue to grow across our six offices in North and South Carolina, we're looking for talented professionals to help us attract the next generation of engineers, designers, surveyors, architects, and support staff. In this role, you will lead the full-cycle recruiting process while also coordinating onboarding for new employees and supporting various Human Resources initiatives.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Partner with hiring managers and the HR Manager to identify hiring needs and develop recruiting strategies.
- Create and post engaging job advertisements across multiple recruiting platforms.
- Source and engage passive candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter and other recruiting tools.
- Review resumes, screen applicants, and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
- Maintain communication with candidates throughout the hiring process to provide a positive candidate experience.
- Prepare and extend employment offers and communicate hiring decisions.
- Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment activities.
- Track recruiting metrics, hiring activity, and recruiting budget performance.
- Represent The Wooten Company at career fairs, networking events, and university recruiting initiatives.
Onboarding & New Hire Experience
- Coordinate all onboarding activities for new employees.
- Create new hire profiles within onboarding systems and Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Partner with hiring managers to develop first-day schedules and onboarding plans.
- Coordinate workstation setup, office access, equipment, and new hire welcome materials with the IT team.
- Conduct HR orientation, complete employment documentation, and assist with benefits enrollment.
- Maintain employee records, including benefits, certifications, licenses, and professional development information within Deltek Vantagepoint.
Human Resources Support
- Cross-train in other HR functions to provide backup support as needed.
- Assist with benefits administration and annual Open Enrollment.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and company events.
- Assist with HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide general administrative support for the Human Resources department.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably within the engineering, architecture, consulting, or AEC industry.
- Experience recruiting for technical or STEM-related positions is highly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple openings and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Handshake, or ZipRecruiter is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS experience is preferred.
