Quality Manager
Why We Need You
The Quality Manager leads the plant's Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs, executing robust quality systems, data-driven process controls, and continuous improvement practices to ensure defect reduction, process stability, customer satisfaction, and sustained operational performance. Drive capability to design, develop, and implement robust process controls. The Quality Manager leads the integration of quality and process control systems at the Mankato facility for RISE Siding and Trim. This role is accountable for building a high-performing team, deploying CertainTeed's Quality Management System (QMS), and ensuring stable, capable processes that consistently deliver high-quality, sustainable building products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and advance the Quality & Process Control roadmap.
- Lead Integrated Quality & Process Control Organization Build, lead, and develop a unified team of Quality Technicians and Process Technicians.
- Establish clear roles, standard work, and accountability across both functions.
- Implement daily management systems (tier meetings, KPI tracking, escalation).
- Drive a culture of quality at the source and strong process ownership.
- Support capacity expansion and growth initiatives with strong Quality & Process discipline.
- Deploy & Sustain Quality Management System (QMS).
- Implement and standardize CertainTeed QMS at the plant level.
- Ensure robust controls across: Incoming raw materials (recycled fibers, additives), In-process parameters (forming, curing, finishing), Final product validation and testing.
- Lead internal/external audits and enforce disciplined CAPA processes.
- Own Process Control Strategy, PFMEA & Control Plans.
- Lead development and sustainment of: Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Control Plans aligned to critical process characteristics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and R&D to: Identify and mitigate process risks, Translate PFMEA outputs into actionable controls and reaction plans, Ensure control plans are actively used on the floor (not static documents), Drive continuous updates based on process changes, defects, and learnings.
- Drive Process Stability & Manufacturing Performance.
- Lead structured problem solving (DMAIC, 8D) for chronic and acute issues.
- Reduce customer complaints and internal defects.
- Translate field performance into process and product improvements.
- Establish and manage KPIs - First Pass Yield (FPY), Scrap Rate, Customer Claims, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Lead quality and process control integration for New Product Development.
Qualifications
- Education & Certifications:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or an equivalent discipline.
- PREFERRED: Lean and/or Six Sigma certification, ASQ certification, ISO Internal Auditor certification.
- Experience:
- Required: 5+ years of experience within a quality manufacturing organization.
- Preferred: 2–3 years of experience utilizing SPC data sets to create control charts, perform CPK adjustments, and lead improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.
