About the role
MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking a General Manager for its Kansas City Store - E 63rd. This position supports the mission of "Changing Lives Through the Power of Work!" and embodies core values of diversity, integrity, passion, professionalism, respect, and responsibility.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee store operations, resources, and budgets to meet or exceed goals and benchmarks.
- Model core values to establish a safe, ethical, and high-quality work environment.
- Supervise, direct, and train staff, ensuring they perform their essential functions.
- Provide exceptional customer service internally and externally, retaining repeat donors, shoppers, and staff.
- Coach and counsel employees on job performance, including discipline up to termination.
- Assign daily job duties independently to meet operational needs.
- Identify and recommend employees for advancement.
- Safeguard company property and information from harm, reporting any incidents to management.
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and values.
- Utilize efficient staffing methods, arrange replacements, and audit/payroll.
- Eliminate wasteful practices through process improvement.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Three years of Retail, Warehouse, or Logistics Management.
- A valid MO or IL state driver’s license and insurance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
- Leadership skills, including quality decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving.
- Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.
