Examples of Duties
- Work with the engineering division project manager to plan, build, construct, and integrate additional supply capacity into the drinking water system.
- Collaborate with emergency management staff to develop and implement strategies for mitigating emergencies, particularly those affecting drinking water.
- Lead the division and ensure the organization incorporates modern enterprise asset management tools and promotes their use among staff.
- Develop longer-term succession and resource planning, as well as annual budgets, using data-driven approaches.
- Lead department efforts to understand industry trends, evaluate new technologies, and integrate tools to enhance service delivery.
- Act as the project owner for a CIP to modernize water system assets, ensuring a smooth transition to new meters, reading methods, and customer utilization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, construction management, water management, business, or a related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in public utility system maintenance, construction, and operations or a related public works area, including three (3) years of supervisory, management, and/or program administration experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid driver license with a satisfactory driving record, Level IV Water Distribution Operator Certification from the State of Oregon, and either a Professional Civil Engineer license to practice in the State of Oregon or the ability to obtain an Oregon license within six months of employment.
Supplemental Information
- Union Representation: Not applicable for this position.
- Schedule: Full-time, with a requirement to be available on-site except for one day per week. A typical workweek consists of four ten-hour days, Monday through Thursday.
