Indiana University (IU) Public Safety pursues the university's commitment to providing the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community, consistent with the university's mission and environment, applicable legal and professional standards, and available resources. IU Public Safety directly oversees areas including the IU Police Department, Emergency Management and Continuity, and Fire Safety and Loss Prevention, operating with a team of approximately 300 dedicated staff on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operational basis across all campuses.
Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day operational management of public safety dispatch staff.
- Establishes short-term operational objectives.
- Identifies public safety dispatch and operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency; provides oversight for continuous integration, testing, quality assurance and quality control efforts.
- Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff, establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.
- Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.
- Provides direct supervision and oversight of staff setting expectations to meet department objectives and is held accountable for the performance and development of team.
- Ensures and provides training to staff to improve customer service operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for staff.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 2 years of related work experience
- Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
