Responsibilities
- Develops and executes a comprehensive training curriculum for sales representatives that aligns with the company’s sales and marketing strategies, including New Hire Training and Advanced Training.
- Updates, writes, and develops training content (in both written and video formats) with input from cross-functional departments, including at-home study and live classroom curriculum.
- Assists with administrative logistics and support materials.
- Leads classroom sales training and onboarding of new sales hires, including training calls, ride-alongs, and coordination with existing sales team members.
- Ensures training programs support evolving business needs such as new customers, products, product extensions, and markets.
- Conducts ongoing gap analyses and leverages insights from the commercial team to inform training strategies and update curriculum as needed.
- Assesses individual results and overall effectiveness of delivered training; creates proficiency and competency assessments for internal stakeholders.
- Utilizes diverse learning techniques appropriate for individuals with varied backgrounds and experiences.
- Evaluates sales rep performance during training and provides feedback to Regional Sales Directors (RSD) and key stakeholders.
- Leads training for new employees outside the sales team within the Business Unit.
- Works with the Marketing team to plan, create, and execute virtual or in-person training modules for new sales resources and product enhancements.
- Participates in the commercial strategic planning process (annual brand and tactical plan).
- Responsible for MLR approval of training material and ensures compliance with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Requirements

- Sales Experience: Proven track record of sales territory management, including consistent performance.
- Technical and functional computer skills: Fluent with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint) and Salesforce.
- Strong project management skills: Ability to create and maintain clear plans, prioritize and manage multiple projects, and consistently meet timelines and milestones.
- Strong time management skills: Effectively manages time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently, with attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player: Works cooperatively with others, proactively communicates, aligns on goals and priorities, and courageously addresses issues as they arise.
- Strategic agility: A continuous learner with strong curiosity, able to reduce complex problems into relevant components and develop cohesive, practical solutions. Identifies assumptions, risks, and changing variables, flexing plans as needed.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of successful experience in commercial sales training or equivalent in the medical/biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- 4-year degree in business, life sciences, healthcare, education, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with commercial medical sales into physician offices in the IVD or LDT space.
- Regional or National Sales Trainer or Sales Training experience (internally or externally), preferred.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies for both onsite and virtual trainings.
- Ability to travel 15-25% of the time, dependent on in-person training needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting breast cancer oncology products, diagnostics, or related therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and facilitating sales training programs for field-based commercial teams.
- 2+ years of Veracyte experience.
Pay
- For candidates based in our San Diego office: $140,000 - $146,000.
- For candidates based in our South San Francisco office: $150,000 - $175,000.
- For candidates working remotely (US): $130,000 - $148,000.
The final salary offered will depend on factors such as years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, and education. Base pay is one part of the total package, which may include additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
