About the role
This entry-level position focuses on customer service via phone and in-person for the Exemptions and Public Information Department. The position is initially located at the Clearwater Courthouse for training, with permanent assignments to other offices afterward.
Schedule
After the initial training period, up to 2 days per week may be scheduled as work from home.
Pay
Starting at $19.18 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Respond to basic inquiries from the public on methods, rules, regulations, and practices involved in ad valorem property valuation and exemptions for real property.
- Learn and apply Florida Statutes related to exemptions and property classification.
- Enter detailed data into the CAMA system, including property records, exemption, and deeds information and notes.
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in clerical, customer service, and administrative support (preference given to those with experience in an Ad Valorem Property Appraiser's office); or
- An Associate’s or higher-level degree; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in front-line, in-person, and telephone customer service.
- Real estate or title/abstract experience.
- Excellent data entry and basic math skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Skills
- Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Familiarity with website contents and maps.
- Knowledge of the geographic layout of Pinellas County.
- Knowledge of Save Our Homes (SOH) personal and/or real property appraisal assessment and exemption terminology.
- Knowledge of basic laws, rules, and regulations governing the tax roll.
- Knowledge of Business English, spelling, and punctuation.
- Skill in keyboarding accurately at a reasonable rate of speed.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform computer data entry and simple word processing functions.
