About the role
We are seeking a Project Manager to support our client. This role will support the planning, maintenance, and oversight of complex integrated project schedules using Microsoft Project. The consultant will coordinate with 15+ workstream leads to track dependencies, identify schedule risks, and provide clear reporting and updates to project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain the integrated master schedule in Microsoft Project for project releases, waves, milestones, and interdependent workstream activities.
- Gather, validate, and incorporate schedule inputs from 15+ workstream leads, proactively tracking status, dependencies, deliverables, and stakeholder commitments.
- Monitor progress against deadlines, identify schedule variances, and escalate risks, bottlenecks, conflicts, and potential delays to project leadership.
- Generate and present regular schedule reports, executive summaries, and visualizations to communicate project status, critical path items, and key schedule impacts.
- Conduct schedule reviews and facilitate check-in meetings with workstream leads to validate timelines and assess impacts from scope, dependency, or priority changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling conflicts, align on critical path activities, and support timely decision-making across releases.
- Support the adoption and enforcement of project management standards, templates, reporting processes, and established project controls.
- Maintain clear written communication so project team members and stakeholders remain informed of schedule updates, risks, required actions, and upcoming deadlines.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Project.
- 5+ years of experience building, updating, and maintaining complex master schedules with interdependent tasks and multiple releases or waves.
- PMP certification
- Strong attention to detail with experience analyzing project schedules, identifying inconsistencies, tracking dependencies, and flagging potential risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate, gather information, and synthesize status updates from 15+ workstream leads.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate project updates and technical details into clear visuals, summary reports, and executive-level updates.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track status across multiple deadlines, releases, dependencies, and stakeholder commitments.
- Proactive communication style with the ability to keep project leads informed and escalate risks, delays, or issues in a timely manner.
- Self-directed and able to work independently, prioritize competing demands, manage ambiguity, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving accountability for timely delivery.
- Prior experience supporting Medicaid, Integrated Eligibility, or other health and human services transformation projects.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, Power BI, or similar tools for process mapping, dashboard reporting, and executive visualizations.
- Experience anticipating schedule risks, including bottlenecks, resource gaps, critical path issues, and go-live readiness impacts.
- Comfort facilitating schedule workshops or check-in meetings with client counterparts to explain schedule impacts and changes.
- Able to absorb new information quickly and adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Experience with multi-wave or phased project delivery models, including dependency tracking, release management, and go-live readiness.
