Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of a major segment of a difficult and complex project.
- Coordinate with representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Independently make correct determinations when faced with unique and unusual problems.
- Resolve problems or conflicts involving the interpretation of plans and specifications requirements.
- Direct the discontinuance of portions of the work project and refer recommendations to higher level personnel for decisions.
- Approve changes to the plans which do not alter basic design or involve additional cost.
- Investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims.
- Coordinate with the contracting officer to correct contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
- Recommend approval/disapproval of submittals and progress schedules.
- Maintain progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction.
- Review cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Extensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Cost Estimating Software.
- Good team working and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong administrative and project management skills.
- Knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering principles.
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques.
- Presentation and briefing capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction projects, construction inspections, and construction surveillance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid US Government security clearance.
