Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of a major segment of a difficult and complex project.
  • Coordinate with representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Independently make correct determinations when faced with unique and unusual problems.
  • Resolve problems or conflicts involving the interpretation of plans and specifications requirements.
  • Direct the discontinuance of portions of the work project and refer recommendations to higher level personnel for decisions.
  • Approve changes to the plans which do not alter basic design or involve additional cost.
  • Investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims.
  • Coordinate with the contracting officer to correct contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Recommend approval/disapproval of submittals and progress schedules.
  • Maintain progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction.
  • Review cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments.

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Cost Estimating Software.
  • Good team working and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong administrative and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering principles.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques.
  • Presentation and briefing capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction projects, construction inspections, and construction surveillance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid US Government security clearance.
