About the role

AECOM is looking for a Project Environmental Scientist position in Fort Lauderdale office. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that provides career growth opportunities within AECOM’s Remediation Southeast Team. This position will consist of both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments and will include performing environmental contamination assessments, contamination remediation, plan reviews, and technical report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Supports AECOM projects in the areas of contaminated sediments, soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, environmental compliance, regenerative remediation and sustainability.
  • Collections and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Aids in field activities for data collection.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Aids the senior staff with field oversight of remediation activities.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with supervision.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field with 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.
  • United States citizenship is a requirement.
  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with Florida Department of Transportation preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience working in a environmental consulting firm preferred.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Mid-Atlantic States environmental regulations and setting preferred.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 per year.
