Job Summary

Trileaf is seeking a full-time Environmental Project Scientist with 0-2 years of field experience conducting environmental due diligence work on telecommunications and commercial real estate projects, primarily including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I ESAs), Phase II ESAs, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Review Reports, and/or migratory bird evaluations and amongst other environmental assessment services. This position is based out of our remote Boston, Massachusetts office and travel includes all of the New England area.

Basic Responsibilities

  • Conducting site visits of wireless communications facilities and commercial properties, reviewing historical records, environmental and regulatory databases, and drafting a standardized report in accordance with ASTM E-1527-21 (AAI).
  • Conducting preliminary screenings of listed and/or proposed threatened or endangered species, critical habitat, National Wetland Inventory Maps (NWI), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) etc., and preparing a template NEPA report.
  • Conducting ground-based field investigations for migratory bird surveys and obtaining necessary permits with state/local agencies.
  • Traveling to project locations, taking detailed notes and photographs, conducting interviews, analyzing government database records, performing regulatory agency file reviews, reviewing historical data, and drafting a standardized report.
  • Performing QA/QC to the satisfaction of both management and clients and completing requested revisions & submitting report within pre-established timelines.
  • Conducting field work to collect samples of potentially contaminated subsurface media (soil, groundwater, and soil vapor) and/or indoor air and comparing analytical contaminant data to applicable regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting interviews, analyzing government database records, performing regulatory agency file reviews; reviewing historical data (including topographic maps, Sanborn fire insurance maps, city directories, and aerial photographs); drafting a standardized report using information from these various sources.
  • Performing ground-based field investigations for migratory bird surveys and obtaining necessary permits with state/local agencies.
  • Conducting field work to collect samples of potentially contaminated subsurface media (soil, groundwater, and soil vapor) and/or indoor air and comparing analytical contaminant data to applicable regulatory standards.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • NEPA/Section 106 Assessments
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Mold assessment/indoor air quality (IAQ) experience
  • Licensed Asbestos/Lead-based paint Inspector
  • Transaction Screen Assessments (ASTM E1528)
  • Property Condition Assessments (ASTM E2018)
  • Record Search with Risk Assessments (SBA SOP 50 10 6)
  • Environmental Professional (EP) Wetland Delineations
  • Working knowledge of the nesting cycle and behaviors of common raptor species
  • Experience using binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras
  • Experience with “digiscoping” techniques
  • Avian surveys
  • Regulatory agency permitting

Pay and Schedule

The listed salary range for this position is an expected range. The actual offer will be at the company's sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate's qualifications, years of experience, skillset, geographic location, and current market data.

Schedule

This position is based out of our remote Boston, Massachusetts office and travel includes all of the New England area. Travel is 75% of the time, with 25% of the time spent in the office.
