Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects for municipal clients.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and reports for water treatment facilities, distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and stormwater systems.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling, cost estimating, and permitting tasks related to water infrastructure.
  • Work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and designers.
  • Support project management functions, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
  • Conduct field investigations, inspections, and construction oversight as needed.

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience, with emphasis in water, wastewater, or stormwater projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory permitting processes and local/state/federal requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The base salary (or hourly rate) range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
