Position Description
The Middle Fork Crow River Watershed District (MFCRWD) is seeking a Project Coordinator to manage and implement the District's conservation program. The position oversees implementation of District projects, engages producers and landowners, and assists in outreach and education activities.
Major/Essential Functions
- Manage and Implement of Position Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee implementation of District projects, including financial management, scope of work, schedule, partner coordination, engineering, contracts, easements, cooperative funding agreements and permitting.
- Project Evaluation and Documentation: Ensure project evaluation and documentation.
- Partner Coordination: Work closely with contractors, other governmental agencies, and conservation partners to protect resources identified in the North Fork Crow Comprehensive Watershed Plan (1W1P).
- Field Assessment: Investigate desk-top and field walkover assessments of areas needing restoration efforts.
- Outreach and Education: Engage landowners in learning about water management and best management practices, and assist in outreach and education activities.
- Grant Writing and Reporting: Research available funding, initiate the application process, submit semi-annual reports to funding sources, and administer funds from awarded grants.
- BMP Program Management: Develop and update the North Fork Crow River Comprehensive Plan (1W1P), manage the BMP program, and coordinate contractor activities.
- Administrative Support: Perform budget tracking and expenditure reporting, and assist with strategic planning and implementation of current and future District projects and programs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Inspect Permitted Activities: Conduct inspections of permitted activities, including initial site assessments, progress reports, and final inspections.
- Provide Assistance: Provide assistance and guidance related to the permit application process, investigate non-permitted activities, and initiate permitting processes.
- Water Quality Monitoring: Participate in educational opportunities, conduct flow gauging, and perform data entry and analysis.
- Other Activities: Assist in the administration of Minnesota Rules Chapter 103D, and perform other activities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in environmental studies / science, water resources, biology, ecology or a related field.
- A minimum of one year experience in the environmental/ecology field or a related area.
- Prior experience in a technical capacity working in water quality, field monitoring, construction sites, development site plan reviews, stormwater management and Best Management Practices, or other natural resources effort preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience, including project management or supervision is preferred.
- Good communication and computer skills are required.

- Develop and maintain positive, cooperative, working relationships with all District employees/consultants, city and agency staff, and others of the District in contributing to a productive results-oriented climate.

Physical And Mental Demands
- Occasional walking in rugged terrain.
- Extended periods of sitting and extended repetitive action operating computer equipment.
- Occasional lifting to 70lbs.
- Multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Sometimes site visits may involve hot and cold temperatures.
