Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as Program Support Engineer assigned to our customer programs.
- Serve as a consultant to the Shipboard Management Team, working closely with afloat and ashore team members in the life cycle management of the vessel.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAMM Ashore and Afloat modules, taking ownership of technical issues in the program of record and driving resolution internally and externally.
- Assist the customer in troubleshooting and navigating maintenance support modules.
- Assist personnel with work package development and documentation of work performed during shipyard availabilities.
- Review ship availability plan of action and milestones (POAMS) and other shipyard availability information for data quality and policy compliance.
- Train shipboard personnel on the use of maintenance management software, document work performed, and prepare debriefs for the customer(s).
- Tracking the status of the assigned vessel maintenance activities, reporting on compliance, maintenance efficiency, and assisting the ship and Port Engineers in completing items.
- Working with the Program Managers, Port Engineers, and Shipboard Engineers in correcting data quality errors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Data Analysis, or related skills
- 4+ years of experience as a government or commercial Port Engineer, or experience with a classification or flag state authority, with direct exposure to vessel regulatory compliance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
- Strong research, problemsolving, and analytical skills
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
- Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
- A Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) in Engineering
- Recent sailing experience with Military Sealift Command or U.S. Merchant Marine
