About the role
This position supports various administrative tasks and processes related to surveys, reports, and internal communications. The incumbent also handles customer liaison for equipment-related matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and assembles information for surveys and reports as required by Central and Area Offices.
- Processes incoming and outgoing materials, including correspondence, reports, and memoranda.
- Reviews and analyzes incoming materials, determines necessary actions, and refers them to the appropriate sections.
- Edits documents, composes letters and reports, and ensures accuracy and completeness of correspondence.
- Develops standard forms for form letters and replies to inquiries.
- Liaises with customers to identify equipment purchase, lease, trade-in, and other requirements, and passes these to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains the station control log and updates RO-controlled publications.
- Maintains confidential records for the Division, including performance, disciplinary actions, and awards.
- Serves as the principal timekeeper for SSD and supports other divisions as an alternate timekeeper.
- May participate in the PIV issuance process and serve as a PIV card issuer.
- Receives and screens visitors and callers, forwarding only those requiring attention to the Division Chiefs.
Requirements
The position requires specialized experience in performing duties such as composing, reviewing, and editing correspondence, auditing statistical data, assessing organizational workflow, providing budgetary recommendations, and serving as the principal timekeeper. Volunteer experience is also considered.
Qualifications
- Specialized experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
- Examples of specialized experience include composing, reviewing, and editing correspondence, auditing statistical data, assessing organizational workflow, providing budgetary recommendations, and serving as the principal timekeeper.

Conditions of Employment
- Probationary period: 1 year.
- Background/security investigation: Required.
- Time-in-grade requirement: GS-06 grade level requires 52 weeks at the GS-05 level.
- Education: No education substitute at this grade level.
