The Lenox, Iowa location—known as the "Pearl of the Prairie"—offers small-town living with big-city amenities nearby in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Lenox features a friendly atmosphere, safe environment, and progressive spirit, making it a great place to live, work, and raise a family. About the Role
The Production Supervisor oversees a team responsible for completing production and sanitation tasks. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating work activities and resources to manufacture food products while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, quantity specifications, and cost. Key skills include people management, operational and sanitation knowledge, training ability, and driving results with data.
Responsibilities
- Leads team members to support safety, food safety, operations, sanitation, and personnel development.
- Ensures a safe and healthy workplace and maintains management awareness of operational, quality, safety, and cost-control issues.
- Adheres to safe work practices, GMPs, and maintains product quality; reports conditions affecting food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
- Resolves operational problems to minimize impact on production.
- Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation, and other personnel to achieve production, safety, and quality goals.
- Manages ingredient, packaging usage, and department costs.
- Encourages employee suggestions to improve production, quality, safety, and cost control.
- Participates on the plant safety team and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Cooperates with all departments to maintain coordinated work relationships.
- Enforces company policies fairly and consistently.
- Maintains consistent communications and leads or participates in meetings as required.
- Leads and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develops self and team members' skills to improve work standards and performance.
- Drives individual accountability and ownership of results in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., timekeeping, downtime, absentee records).
- Willing to work overtime or weekends when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little to no supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multi-functional tasks.
- Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group settings.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
- Ability to learn and utilize various technology systems.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $65,248 - $91,347 per year.
