About the Role

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN site in the Structural Heart Division. The schedule is 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Friday overtime.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing the manufacturing operations performed in a shift or group of production lines, ensuring they reach volume, quality, and cost goals. You will lead a team of manufacturing associates in a cleanroom or controlled environment, ensuring the production of high-quality medical devices. You will foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement while applying Lean Manufacturing principles to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Control production activities, material flow, and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of the assigned production line(s).
  • Ensure compliance with standards and manage/supervise the assigned production line(s).
  • Lead a team to meet quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness requirements.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.
  • Champion Abbott’s cultural values by promoting a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Lead and coach team members in Lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Identify and eliminate waste through continuous improvement initiatives and kaizen events.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce variability.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and support new product introductions.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development and training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits and inspections.
  • For Grade 15 Supervisors: Demonstrate leadership in Lean systems and Tier meetings, acting as a training resource for other areas within the building.
  • Teach teams how their performance ties to financial outcomes monthly and support the financial planning process.
  • Identify opportunities within financial outcomes and propose cost improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma (± 12 years) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device or pharmaceutical preferred).
  • 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Skills

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Experience with cleanroom operations and contamination control.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.

Pay

The base pay for this position is $68,000.00 – $136,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.

Schedule

3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Friday overtime.
