Product Specialist
Eaton is looking for a technically minded Product Specialist to join the Power Systems Division on the business side of Engineered To Order products. This role is based in Waukesha, WI; no relocation assistance is provided.
Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000 – $105,000. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
What You’ll Do
The Product Specialist serves as a skilled technical communicator who prepares accurate, well-written customer proposals based on requests for quotes or specifications. This role uses the Power Systems Division quotation system and collaborates with a dynamic, fast-paced team across sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Create multiple transformer proposals daily based on customer RFQs, specifications, one-lines, and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Review specifications to confirm customer requirements, product fit, pricing features, lead times, and identify exceptions, alternatives, and special testing or documentation needs.
- Process multiple orders daily by verifying purchase orders and specifications against proposals, resolving discrepancies, assembling documentation for engineering, and managing customer change orders.
- Approve and negotiate pricing within established guidelines using competitive feedback and market knowledge.
- Collaborate with team members to meet proposal deadlines and provide technical support to customers, agents, and internal departments.
- Support quotation programs through training, testing, and improvement suggestions, and act as a liaison between engineering, marketing, scheduling, and customers.
- Apply lean tools for continuous improvement and maintain knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI, IEEE, CSA, and NEMA.
- Participate in ISO work instruction development, customer visits, plant tours, and occasional site visits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
- Two (2) years of product, customer service, inside sales, or proposals experience in a technical field (may include internships or co-ops).
- One (1) year of experience using ERP and quotation systems.
- Eaton will not consider applicants requiring employment immigration sponsorship for this position.
- No relocation assistance; only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Waukesha, WI will be considered (Active-Duty Military Service members exempt).
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Two (2) years of experience in technical marketing, engineering, or manufacturing (may include internships or co-ops).
Skills
- Knowledge of electric power distribution transformers, their components, accessories, typical applications, equipment, systems, and standards.
- Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, or other ERP systems to analyze data and solve routine problems.
