Procurement Specialist I

The Procurement Specialist I position offers an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career. You will collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world, adapt different techniques to solve complex problems, and make recommendations that impact financial resource management.
Responsibilities
- Taps into curiosity and collaborates with innovative colleagues.
- Adapts differing techniques and methods to deal with variations in work conditions and operations.
- Develops and implements improvements and solutions to work processes and tools.
- Makes recommendations that impact how financial resources are generated or spent.
- Initiates actions and leads or coaches employees during projects or trains/mentors new employees within sourcing areas such as raw materials, supplies, equipment, services, process/transactional, etc.
- Handles a wide variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries where the solution is not immediately apparent.
- Manages projects, ensuring the activities and outcomes of the project team.
- Works on complex issues that may be interrelated, requiring significant interpretation and strong analytical skills.
- Works across multiple disciplines/practices, overseeing the development, negotiation, and implementation of commodity strategies and/or supplier contracts, including specifications and quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
- Five (5) years of procurement experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Additional qualifications that could help include a Master's degree in supply chain from an accredited institution and seven (7) years of Procurement experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Strong negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritization, multi-tasking, storytelling, and influencing.
Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Pay & Benefits
The expected compensation range for this position is $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
Work Location & Travel
This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Travel may include up to 10% domestic.
