Job Duties and Other Information

• Conducts investigations of persons who represent a high degree of concern for public safety and welfare of the community, including offenders with a verified history of violent behavior or who represent the greatest degree of danger to the community, as well as providing intensive supervision to high profile cases such as those involving sex offenders, organized gang members, contagious offenders (e. g., HIV and Hepatitis B).
• Ensures sex offender compliance with sex offender laws and requirements.
• Administers drug tests by obtaining urine samples and evaluating results.
• Collaborates with community service work performed by parolees.
• Serves as a supervisor and works cases in the sheriffs' maintenance programs, work release programs, and community residential programs (half-way houses).
• Supports the department's Intensive Motivational Program Alternative Correctional Treatment (IMPACT).
• Carries out all activities in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards which set specific time constraints, requirements, and regimen for all major activities.
• Assists in conducting jail operation audits on facilities housing DPSC inmates.
• Conducts disciplinary hearings for adult inmates in CRCs.

Necessary Special Requirements

• Current Louisiana driver's license.
• Active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
• Ability to handle and carry firearms.

Work Environment

Employee will work with Probation & Parole Officers, Probation & Parole Program Managers, Probation & Parole Supervisors, and Probation & Parole District Managers.

Compensation

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $30.57 per hour.
