Role Overview
The position involves practicing professional nursing and medicine, including independent and delegated medical functions, in accordance with accepted standards. The provider will utilize specialized knowledge to evaluate, diagnose, and treat human conditions, promote health, and provide supportive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection: Obtain medical history, perform physical exams, and review relevant studies.
- Assessment: Develop accurate diagnoses and differential diagnoses.
- Treatment Planning: Create and implement treatment plans, including medication orders and follow-up care.
- Procedural Tasks: Perform procedures within expertise and compliance with regulations.
- Patient Education: Counsel patients and families on treatment, disease prevention, and health promotion.
- Documentation: Record all clinical activities accurately in medical records.
- Additional Duties: Conduct telehealth encounters, manage urgent situations, and perform other clinical or administrative tasks.
Professional Expectations
- Maintain licensure, pursue continuing education, participate in training, and adhere to policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, promote patient-centered care, and uphold safety and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in nursing or bachelor's in related fields, valid licensure, certifications, and DEA registration.
- For APNs: additional certifications and prescriptive authority are required or pending.
- For PAs: appropriate licensure and certification are needed.
Additional Requirements
- Credentialing, participation in interviews, and compliance with state and organizational policies.
- APNs must obtain full prescriptive authority within two years.
