About the role

The Practice Manager is primarily responsible for establishing their practice as a premier destination for all vision needs within the community, building the team member experience and practice culture, gaining market share, driving top-line and profitability growth, delivering key performance metrics, and executing superior patient experiences.

The Practice Manager will establish high standards of performance and operational excellence through leading their team, building high-performing talent, and adhering to all policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Drive quality and improvement to meet or exceed all key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of eye-care practice operations, processes, and policies, and transfer this knowledge to produce superior sales and business results.
  • Drive performance through focus on key company initiatives; partner with team members to improve the patient journey, resulting in increased revenue, efficiencies, and reduced practice expenses.
  • Exhibit strong business acumen centered on continual improvement and execution of best practices for growth.
  • Host daily huddles and weekly team meetings to celebrate successes and address areas of opportunity.
  • Follow workforce management guidelines to develop staff schedules and patient flow for the site.
  • Consistently establish clear expectations, train, coach, and develop the team to perform with excellence and accountability.
  • Build talent within the practice in partnership with the Managing Doctor; coach team members through regular weekly 1-on-1 discussions, create development plans, and utilize progressive discipline processes when necessary.
  • Perform administrative duties including cash management, payroll, inventory management, and technical application understanding.
  • Interface with the support center and department leads to ensure site resources are deployed effectively from finance, operations, marketing, and training perspectives.
  • Look for innovative ways to improve patient pain points and the overall patient experience.
  • Manage 4+ employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience running operations of a site, preferably in healthcare or related patient care services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) skills—ability to manage both doctor and employee relations.
  • Direct patient care experience required; optician license or optical experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or two years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make sound discriminations.
  • Hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Lifting: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or negligible force constantly to move objects.
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Standing: Ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word; conveying detailed or important instructions accurately or quickly.
  • Visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work; ability to read a computer screen for long periods.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, including long distances or between workstations.
  • Travel as needed between practices.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred).
