About the role
Research Project: Evaluate neuronal control of macrophage function in the heart. The candidate will use fundamental science tools to test how the nervous system regulates macrophage function and biology in the heart. The project will investigate how neurotransmitters and neuropeptides modify macrophage subsets and inflammatory processes in the heart and its vasculature at steady state, after myocardial infarction, during atherosclerosis, or in the context of other cardiovascular pathologies.
Responsibilities
- Mouse modeling and handling
- Flow cytometry
- Advanced confocal imaging of the heart
- Single-cell sequencing
- Neuronal manipulation methods (e.g., neuronal ablation, neuropeptide deletion, brain circuit manipulation)
- Molecular assays (e.g., protein quantification, mRNA expression)
Goals/Outcomes
Identify new mechanisms by which the nervous system regulates inflammation in the cardiovascular system. Novel signaling pathways will be further developed and tested for potential therapeutic intervention.

Pay
Salary range: $72,500 – $80,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
