About the role

The CertainTeed facility in L’Anse, Michigan, manufactures ceiling tiles. We work hard together to create an environment that teaches our employees manufacturing skills. We are looking to train energetic, dedicated team members to join our family.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules and rules as established in the employee handbook
• Follow standard operating procedures
• Set up line following established equipment settings
• Auxiliary operators during changeovers, set-ups, adjustments, and/or shutdowns
• Fills out maintenance work orders and assists Maintenance Technicians as needed
• Maintain quality of the product on the production line by ensuring product standards are being followed
• Continually monitor product to detect and resolve issues utilizing WCM tools
• Track and/or fill out metrics required to accurately close out production work orders
• Aid in minimizing/eliminating process wastes using WCM tools
• Maintain good housekeeping as established by Operator Duty Sheets and identify gaps and areas for improvement
• Perform Autonomous Maintenance (CIT clean/lube, inspect, and tighten) on production equipment
• Operate forklift as needed
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

Requirements

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred or desired skills: strong commitment to safety, previous work experience in manufacturing, collaborative mindset, problem-solving ability, positive communication skills
• Physical demands: capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, able to climb stairs

Pay

Starting wage is $23.96 per hour with an increase to $24.17 after 480 hours worked probation period.

Schedule

12-hour rotating swing shifts (OT as scheduled). Shifts are 11AM to 11PM and 11PM to 11AM. Flexibility on short notice as overtime may be assigned.
