Planner II
Job Overview
The Planner provides input and oversight of routings and bills of material (BOMs) in support of material resource planning (ERP) requirements. As a Planner III, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and working with the production team to support the scheduling of orders and scheduled customer commitments; working closely with internal departments such as manufacturing, procurement, materials, engineering, quality, and logistics to ensure timely communication of lead times, schedule impacts and changes, material shortages, etc.
Responsibilities
- Implementing and improving work order routers with manufacturing engineer help
- Create work order packages: consisting of pick tickets, prints with correct revision level and routers per the Planning schedule
- Monitor work orders to ensure schedules are being met
- Confer with department management to determine the status of assigned projects
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
- When necessary, informs Purchasing to expedite specific material in order to meet delivery commitments
- Ensures system integrity through maintenance of production schedule and work orders
- Maintains ERP, shortage lists, and related indicators to determine 100% material availability and to ensure 100% on-time customer delivery
- Participates in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process-related issues
- Attends cross-functional activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering to ensure a smooth flow of materials through the production processes
- Identifies and communicates a detailed status on any material planning items impacting the production schedule (e.g., part shortages)
- Ensures that workflows, processes and products comply with safety regulations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5 - 6 years of experience in planning and/or production control
- Experience utilizing an ERP/MRP system
- Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to think logically and methodically
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Decision-making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes
- Experience with Marine Class societies preferred
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls
- Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. may be required
Salary Range
$29/hr. - $39/hr.
