Piping Design Engineer, Level V

AIS, a premier government contractor, is seeking highly motivated and well-qualified personnel to support the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Employees will take day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff while receiving pay, benefits, and HR support from AIS.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Cat 2 and Cat 3 facilities.
• Deliver design output documentation to support minor facility modifications, including drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
• Develop designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to produce timely design output.
• Apply understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for nuclear-regulated facilities.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with clients, management, and hourly wage employees.
• Perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment.

Experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline plus 20+ years of professional experience, or MA/MS with 19+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
• U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age, and ability to meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screen, and background investigation.
