Equipment Design Engineer

About the role

This position involves leading the development of engineering solutions for manufacturing equipment, focusing on Body in White construction for new models. You will oversee multiple projects, handle feasibility studies, develop equipment specifications, and provide technical guidance to ensure successful design and production.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies for Body Frame Weld equipment from styling sketches to initial drawings, reporting content to leadership.
• Verify manufacturing weld equipment requirements and coordinate drawing maturation across regions.
• Develop specifications and process plans for new weld equipment, providing technical oversight and ensuring design integrity.
• Analyze complex manufacturing problems, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and implement plans.
• Research future development methods and influence process improvements.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience, with expertise in equipment/tool development and manufacturing, preferably in Honda facilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills, in-depth knowledge of Honda’s new model development, and expertise in Body in White construction.

Willingness to work on the production floor and travel up to 10% is required. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available.
