Department: The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Emergency Radiologist to join the Department of Radiology. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience. Weekend and holiday coverage is limited and equitably shared among faculty.

Position Overview

The Department of Radiology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine/Wexner Medical Center is seeking candidates for faculty positions in Emergency Radiology who are passionate about collaborative, patient-centered clinical excellence, dedicated to advancing research and innovation, committed to education, and inspire inclusivity. The responsibilities of this position will include patient care, research, and training graduate and postgraduate students.

Department/Division Overview

The Ohio State University Department of Radiology is experiencing significant growth across its research, education, and clinical missions, positioning it as a national leader in imaging innovation and care delivery. The Center for Imaging Excellence (CIE) serves as a cornerstone of this advancement, bringing together multidisciplinary teams to accelerate translational research in MRI, CT, and PET imaging. The department has an expanding focus on artificial intelligence—supported by Ohio State’s designation as an ACR Recognized Center for Healthcare-AI (ARCH-AI)—as well as theranostics and advanced imaging technologies. Ongoing renovations support state-of-the-art infrastructure and collaborative team science.

The department strengthens its educational programs through a comprehensive portfolio of residencies and subspecialty fellowships, supporting a diverse pathway for trainees and reinforcing its commitment to excellence in graduate medical education across diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Clinically, Radiology is rapidly expanding to meet growing patient demand and support the Wexner Medical Center’s Impact 2035 strategic vision. This includes major investments in new and renovated facilities, such as the recently opened 820-bed inpatient hospital tower, a biomedical research tower, and the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center. The department is extending its reach through new ambulatory care centers in New Albany, Dublin, and Powell, alongside established imaging sites across the region.

The Division of Emergency Radiology focuses on all aspects of diagnostic imaging in the Emergency Department setting, particularly interpretation and consultation on emergent studies in radiography, CT, Ultrasound, and MRI. Faculty are supported by outstanding clinical, research, and educational resources, including expertise in imaging technology innovation, artificial intelligence, and health services research.

Schedule

  • Traditional in-person, 8am – 5pm coverage Monday – Friday with no evening or overnight call responsibilities.
  • Evening Shift: 5pm – 2am; 7 days on, 14 days off.
  • Overnight Shift: 11pm - 8am; 7 days on, 21 days off.
  • Availability to work on-site in the Emergency Department as needed, with some flexibility to work some shifts remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the day-to-day clinical operations of the Emergency Radiology Division:
    • Provides high-quality patient care as related to the Emergency Service.
    • Contributes to clinical and imaging operations as related to the Emergency Service.
  • Education, Training, and Faculty Development:
    • Conducts and provides clinical instruction, lectures, seminars, and related educational offerings, both within OSUWMC and at the regional and national level.
    • Collaborates with faculty and leadership in the Division to develop and refine medical student, resident, and fellow training opportunities.
    • Serves as a mentor and sponsor of residents, fellows, and faculty in the Department.
  • Research and Scholarship:
    • Supports clinical and translational research activities and innovation.
    • May serve as PI or Co-I in grants and/or clinical trials.
    • Serves on Department, OSUCOM, or OSUWMC committees to represent the research and innovation interests of the Department, as appropriate.

Requirements

  • M.D., D.O, or foreign equivalent.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Radiology (ABR, ABOR).
  • Completion of subspecialty fellowship in relevant Diagnostic Radiology discipline, or relevant experience in Emergency Radiology, at time of appointment.
  • Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
