About the role
This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is: P $13,338.50, Q $14,078, R $14,820.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical care to patients in a correctional facility.
- Performs medical assessments and provides medical treatment for assigned patients as appropriate and authorized by the medical license.
- Consistent with Department policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Provides clinical consultation and support to Advanced Practice Providers.
- Instructs nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols and adheres to professional medical standards of care.
- Assigned on call duties.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications (MQ): Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
- Possession of a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board; or admissibility to an internal medicine or family medicine Specialty examination as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the American Board of Family Medicine or the Secretary of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
- If using academic education above the twelfth grade to meet minimum qualifications, include a copy of your degree and/or Informal (Unofficial) School Transcripts.
Qualifications
- Desirable Qualifications: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners and Possession of a valid certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Board as a specialist in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

The monthly base pay range for this position is $13,338.50 to $14,820.
Schedule
