About the Role

This position is located at California Medical Facility (CMF) in Vacaville, CA (Solano County). Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor), the Staff Psychiatrist is a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates. The team includes other psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers.

The Staff Psychiatrist performs psychiatric evaluations, participates in treatment planning and case reviews, prescribes medications, and provides crisis intervention and psychotherapy. They also offer consultations and training in treatment approaches to both clinical and custody staff.

Pay

This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rates are: P $30,259, Q $31,136 per month.

Effective July 1, 2023, employees in this class who provide direct in-person patient care on grounds or at a facility for more than 50% of the pay period receive a 15% pay differential of their monthly base pay.

Eligible employees may receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment, as well as a monthly recruitment and retention differential totaling $5,000 during their first year, contingent on meeting eligibility criteria.

CDCR and CCHCS employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if the selected candidate remains employed for 90 days.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces the base salary of full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16 by 4.62% and provides 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.
