About the Role
This is a part-time Physician and Surgeon (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) position located at San Quentin State Prison in Marin County, California. The role involves providing medical care to patients in a correctional facility under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical assessments and provide medical treatment for assigned patients as authorized by medical license and consistent with Department policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical consultation and support to Advanced Practice Providers.
- Instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols.
- Adhere to professional medical standards of care.
- Perform on-call duties as assigned.
Pay
This part-time position (20 hours per week) offers a monthly salary range of $13,338.50 to $14,820.00. Employees physically located and assigned to this institution receive a 15% pay differential of their monthly base pay.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces base salary by 4.62% for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16, with part-time employees subject to prorated conditions. Employees receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.
