About the Role
This is a limited-term Physician and Surgeon (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) position located at California Men's Colony (CMC) in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role may be extended or become permanent. Applications will be reviewed on a bi-weekly basis starting February 13, 2026.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) applies to this position, requiring a 4.62% base salary reduction and the receipt of 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and intermittent employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.
This classification is eligible for Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorization with the following authorized rates: P $26,677, Q $28,156, R $29,640.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical care to patients in a correctional facility under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon.
- Perform medical assessments and provide treatment as authorized by your medical license.
- Offer clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff.
- Instruct nursing and clinical staff on medical protocols while adhering to professional medical standards of care.
- Perform on-call duties as assigned.
