Phlebotomist Group Lead
About the role
Represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR IV must have a deep understanding and knowledge of established practices and procedures and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence to our patients, customers, clients and internal leadership.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions according to established training.
- Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services.
- Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test order entry, and billing information.
- Perform departmental-related clerical duties, such as data entry, inventory, and answering phones.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture.
- Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
- Complete training courses and keep up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
- Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
- Participate on special projects and teams.
- Stay up-to-date on company communications and assist with the distribution of technical information to the work group.
- Perform Point of Care (POC) testing at those sites where needed and complete training/competency evaluations per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with transition into the PSC work environment and familiarity with established procedures.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts and preparation of schedules for the assigned workgroup or PSCs.
- Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer problems and document issues.
- Ensure staff is following all safety precautions and maintain facilities in good repair.
Qualifications
- Seven years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
- Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations with minimal notice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) / In-Office (IOP) environment preferred.
- Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Must be able to lift light to moderately heavy objects, sit or stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently. Requires long hours of eye and hand coordination, extensive use of phone and PC, fine dexterity with hands/steadiness, talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, and reaching/twisting.

- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.

- Knowledge of our business and capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Pay
Pay range: $25.85+ per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotational weekends.
