About the role
The Phlebotomist Group Lead serves as the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients, ensuring accurate specimen collection and providing comprehensive support across various service centers and mobile units.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions and research/test/client information, confirming and verifying all orders using lab technology systems or directories.
- Complete data entry, manage standing orders, enter billing information, and collect payments.
- Perform departmental-related clerical duties, maintain logs, and assist with inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, and enforce safety measures.
- Communicate with clients, resolve issues, and provide onboarding services to new employees.
- Support the implementation of standard operating procedures and distribute technical information to the workgroup.
- Assist with inventory counts, schedule preparation, and problem resolution.
- Lead PSRs during absences and provide input on performance evaluations.
Requirements
- Seven years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
- Physical requirements: lift light to moderately heavy objects, sit or stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and use fine dexterity.
- Travel and flexible hours required to cover multiple locations.
Qualifications
- Medical training preferred, especially medical assistant or paramedic training.
- Minimum five years in a Patient Service Center (PSC)/In-Office (IOP) environment.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred in certain states.
