About the role
The successful candidate will represent the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients, ensuring accurate specimen collection and compliance with established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions as per training.
- Research and verify test/client information using lab technology systems or directories.
- Complete data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test order entry, and standing order management.
- Enter billing information and collect payments, ensuring the security of assets and credit card information.
- Data entry and processing specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test orders.
- Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory management, and answering phones.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials, ensuring signatures are present and correct.
- Compile and submit monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
- Complete training courses and stay updated with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
- Travel to Territory Manager meetings if necessary.
- Participate in special projects and teams.
- Stay informed about company communications and assist with the distribution of technical information.
- Perform Point of Care (POC) testing and complete training/competency evaluations as per SOP.
- Assist with the transition of new employees into the PSC work environment and familiarize them with established procedures.
- Support Patient Inquiries from various departments as needed.
- Provide input on the performance evaluations of the Patient Service Representatives (PSRs).
Requirements
- Seven years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift light to moderately heavy objects, sit or stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Superior customer focus, open and transparent communication, and the ability to accelerate and embrace change.
- Knowledge of Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including Company dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Quest Diagnostics Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
- Effective communication in English.
- Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training preferred (medical assistant or paramedic).
- Minimum five years in a Patient Service Center (PSC)/In-Office (IOP) environment.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
