About the role
The Phlebotomist Group Lead serves as the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients, ensuring accurate specimen collection and providing comprehensive support across various service centers and mobile units.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions as per training.
- Research and verify test/client information using lab technology systems or directories.
- Complete data entry and manage standing orders.
- Enter billing information and collect payments, ensuring the security of assets and credit card information.
- Data entry and processing specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
- Perform departmental-related clerical duties, such as data entry, inventory management, and answering phones.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials during venipuncture.
- Compile and submit monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs and participate in special projects.
- Communicate with clients to resolve issues and document problems.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain work areas in good condition.
- Assist with inventory counts and schedule preparation.
- Support new employees and provide onboarding services.
- Participate in the transition process for new offices and assist with problem resolution.
- Provide input on performance evaluations and support the Problem Resolution Line.
Requirements
- Seven years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Extensive use of phone and computer.
- Ability to lift light to moderately heavy objects.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training or experience preferred.
- Minimum five years in a Patient Service Center (PSC)/In-Office (IOP) environment.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
