About the role

The Phlebotomist III - Float represents the face of our company to patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing while following established practices. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.

Successful applicants may be assigned to work in a doctor's office, patient service center, house call environment, long-term care, or other settings as business needs dictate. The role includes leadership responsibilities such as coaching, mentoring, and instructing new employees, as well as acting as a point of contact for staff and providing input to supervisors.

The Phlebotomist III - Float must handle multiple priorities in high-volume settings, work with complex or specialized test orders, and collaborate with functions like Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Prepare specimens for lab testing accurately and on time.
• Provide coverage at multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long-Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy.
• Lead daily activities in assigned locations and step in to lead one or more Patient Service Representatives (PSRs) on-site.
• Act as a coach, mentor, and instructor for new employees and provide onboarding services to new clients.
• Serve as a point of contact for staff and provide regular input to group leads or supervisors.
• Work with high-complexity and high-volume practices, requiring advanced phlebotomy and customer-facing skills.
• Collaborate with multiple departments, including Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
• Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of 3 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.

Schedule

Hours vary as this is a float position, with shifts typically ranging from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
