About the role
The Phlebotomist III - Float represents the company to patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing while following established practices. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, and ensuring daily activities at various locations (Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long Term Care, In-Office Phlebotomy) are completed accurately and on time.
The Phlebotomist III - Float may be assigned to work in a doctor's office, patient service center, house call environment, long-term care, or other settings as business needs dictate. Responsibilities include leading one or more Patient Service Representatives (PSRs), acting as a coach, mentor, and instructor for new employees, and providing onboarding services to new clients. This role also serves as a point of contact for staff and provides input to supervisors.
Additionally, the role may involve working with high-complexity or high-volume practices, requiring advanced phlebotomy skills and strong customer-facing abilities, including communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Prepare specimens for lab testing while adhering to established practices and procedures.
- Provide coverage at multiple locations, ensuring daily activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Lead and mentor new employees, acting as a resource advisor and providing onboarding services.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff and provide regular input to supervisors.
- Handle high-complexity or high-volume practices with specialized focus, requiring advanced phlebotomy and customer service skills.
- Collaborate with multiple functions, including Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
- Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of 3 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.

Schedule
Hours vary as this is a float position, with shifts ranging from 6AM to 5PM.
