Performance Science Manager
About the role
The Performance Science Manager leads the integration and delivery of sports science systems across APC LA. This role is responsible for athlete assessment, monitoring, diagnostic profiling, data management across biomechanics, physiology, and applied sports science, as well as innovation processes that translate directly into training, rehabilitation, and performance decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Build comprehensive athlete profiling frameworks that connect physical capacities, movement characteristics, training history, injury/rehab context, sport demands, and performance outcomes.
- Execute athlete testing and monitoring across biomechanics, physiology, strength/power, movement, load, and readiness domains in the lab, gym, rehab, and field environments.
- Analyze and visualize athlete performance data, ensuring data quality and translating technical outputs into clear reports and dashboards for interdisciplinary decision-making.
- Maintain high standards of scientific rigor, evidence, and validation in all assessment and profiling processes.
- Embed performance testing, monitoring, and feedback directly into strength & conditioning, rehabilitation, and field-based training environments.
- Translate diagnostic and monitoring data into practical recommendations for exercise selection, loading strategies, rehab progression, return-to-performance planning, and performance interventions.
- Collaborate closely with S&C coaches, physical therapists, sport coaches, and interdisciplinary performance staff to ensure testing outputs influence real training decisions.
- Provide hands-on support during gym-floor, rehab, or field sessions when required, including coaching assistance, session monitoring, and implementation of athlete-specific interventions.
- Lead APC LA’s structured innovation process across performance science and applied technology by defining priority performance questions, exploring industry solutions and emerging technologies, and running internal pilot tests to validate potential impact and scalability.
- Build external relationships with universities, technology providers, researchers, performance experts, and sport-specific specialists to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Translate validated innovations into APC systems, field delivery models, and Red Bull global performance projects.
- Collaborate with the global APC corporate projects entities to share methods, insights, and innovation opportunities.
