Per Diem Nurse, Pediatric ICU

About the role

Per diem registered nurses must commit to working a minimum of 24 hours per 6-week scheduling period in direct patient care. Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays, and hours can vary based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit.
• Care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems, including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO.
• Manage complex cardiac conditions, such as complex congenital heart defects, Ventricular Assisted Devices, and heart transplant.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• PALS within 6 months

Qualifications

• Preferred: Relevant RN experience in inpatient units and central float (adult & pediatric), venous access team (VAT), radiology, hemodialysis, cardiovascular laboratory.
