Pediatric Hospitalist (CHIPS) - Full Time NP/PA
About the role
The Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospitalist is seeking an experienced full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic Pediatric Hospitalist team, known as the CHIPS team. This position offers a competitive salary range of $51.05 - $76.60 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
- Records findings of examinations, assessments, and plan of care.
- Writes appropriate for appropriate medications during admission and prescriptions upon discharge, if needed.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations.
- Determines treatment plan for patients.
- Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
- Serves as a role model/clinical resource in all aspects of job performance and human relations skills.
- Assists in the review and development of clinical and operational policies and procedures in the specialty of practice.
Requirements
- Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
- Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of North Carolina and has prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider and PALS from AHA is required with an expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
- NRP from AAP required with an expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
- Must have a Master’s degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Nurse Practitioner or a Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program in Physician Assistant.
- Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body is required. The nurse practitioner must have ACNP, CPNP-AC, or PNP-AC board certification required based on the population served (non-acute care certified NPs are not eligible for this position).
- Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms.
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, bend, stoop, push and pull.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- No night coverage or call required.

Patient Population Served
The APP sees newborns throughout their admission to the newborn nursery and helps see pediatric admissions in the afternoon or provide coverage on the pediatric floor as needed. The APP must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.

Access to verbal, written, and electronic PHI for this job has been determined based on job level and job responsibility within the organization.
