Pediatric Hospitalist (CHIPS) - Full Time Nocturnist NP/PA

About the role

Atrium Health—Levine Children's Hospitalist is seeking an experienced full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic Pediatric Hospitalist team, known as the CHIPS team. This role consists of a 14-hour shift (5p-7a) as the sole-provider in-house with physician back-up available.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and admits children from outside hospitals and the in-house pediatric emergency department.
• Answers cross-cover calls or Haiku messages.
• Performs reassessments at bedside.
• Responds to pediatric rapid response alerts.
• Provides virtual consultations to regional ED sites.

Requirements

• 1-2 years background in pediatrics preferred.
• Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina.
• Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required (NP Applicants).
• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required (PA Applicants).
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred (PA Applicants).

Qualifications

• Education: Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required (NP Applicants); Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required (PA Applicants).
• Experience: Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina.

Skills

• Ability to perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
• Knowledge of procedures such as lumbar puncture.
• Ability to write appropriate for appropriate medications during admission and prescriptions upon discharge.
• Ability to order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic results.
• Ability to determine treatment plan for patient.
• Ability to document all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
• Ability to serve as a role model/clinical resource in all aspects of job performance and human relations skills.
• Ability to act as a patient advocate for the population served.

Pay

$59.00 - $88.50 based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training.

Schedule

14-hour shift (5p-7a) consisting of weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
